Dear Students, Welcome to Our University!
In Türkiye, certain courses—Turkish Language, Atatürk’s Principles and History of Turkish Revolution, Foreign Language, and in some departments, Occupational Health and Safety—are compulsory for all undergraduate programs. At our university, these common courses are delivered in two modalities across our Vocational Schools and Faculties.
Students may choose to take these courses either face-to-face on Saturdays or via distance education (UZEM). During the course registration week, the system will require you to select whether you will take Turkish Language, Atatürk’s Principles and History of Turkish Revolution, Foreign Language (this option will only be available to Vocational School and Conservatory students), and Occupational Health and Safety as Face-to-Face or UZEM.
Note:
Students of the Faculty of Education will take all common courses face-to-face, and no alternative option will be provided.
In faculties offering programs of four years or more, the Foreign Language course will be delivered face-to-face, and no UZEM option will be available.
Please consider the following details before choosing Face-to-Face or UZEM for common courses:
A. Students Choosing “Face-to-Face” Education

Attendance is mandatory.

Courses will be held on Saturdays in the classrooms of the Faculty of Medicine.
B. Students Choosing “UZEM (Distance Education)”

Courses will be delivered exclusively online, and attendance is not required.

Courses will be followed through the online portal at eders.omu.edu.tr. For updates, regularly check the UZEM website: uzem.omu.edu.tr.

Students who choose UZEM must pay 200 TL per course for the semester.

Students enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, and Faculty of Law, who take these courses annually, will pay 400 TL per course.

After sending your course selections for advisor approval, you will be asked to pay your UZEM fees on dates that will be announced.

Payments must be made through Ziraat Bank ATMs or Internet Banking using your student number.

Once course registrations are finalized and class lists are confirmed, your UZEM login credentials will be generated as follows:
Username: Your student number
Password: The first 6 digits of your Turkish ID number + the first 3 letters of your first name (in uppercase)
Example: A student named AHMET with a Turkish ID number 12345678900 will have the password: 123456AHM

The exam schedule will be announced on faculty/department notice boards and at uzem.omu.edu.tr.

Students wishing to be exempt from the Foreign Language course must take and pass the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam on 24 September 2025.
